Yellow Turquoise and Freshwater Pearls

I made these two simple necklaces and earrings from yellow turquoise beads (semi-precious stones), freshwater pearls and sterling silver findings. Nothing fancy, but I really like the way they turned out.

Another Pair of Flip-Flops

I couldn't resist embellishing another pair of flip-flops. This time I used an old Halloween costume of my daughter's to make the flowers. Since the fabric is much thinner, I couldn't just cut strips for the flowers. Instead I made a fabric tube like this:

Hint: They are a European size 35.
Gisi, who do you think they are for?

My First Tea Cozy

I followed the directions on rustybobbin, measured my teapot, and made my own pattern. It worked out to quite well, I think. Have a look!

Schaut's euch an!

The cozy fits the teapot on this picture perfectly.

I have plans for my other two teapots already!

Tea Time

I LOVE tea. I drink it every day and take pleasure in discovering new aromas.
Yesterday, I went to a local British Tea Room for lunch with a friend. It was such a relaxing, wonderful experience. Dainty porcelain teaware, finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, great tea, lovely company, and classical background music. What else could one ask for?

I was inspired to create something tea related after the visit. A tea cozy, I decided would be a practical thing to make, especially since I don't own one. I went in search of instructions and inspiration on google and flickr. I was amazed at how many tea cozies were knitted or crocheted. I think I will sew one though. These are some of my favorites among my finds:

Amethyst-Brandy Necklace

I am not sure brandy is a color, but that's what I think of when I look at the deep, rich yellow-brownish beads in this choker. I made this necklace from a variety of glass beads that I strung on extra strong beading thread and then crocheted.
I figured I'd show you another one of my necklace creations, since so many of you have favorably commented on the blue giveaway necklace. Thanks for all your nice comments; I really appreciate them!  I will be drawing the giveaway winners later tonight and announce/contact them tomorrow.

Yo-Yo T-Shirt

I recently bought this grey t-shirt because I liked the cut of it, but thought it was a bit plain. So I made some yo-yos out of silk fabric and sewed them onto the t-shirt with the sewing machine. I like it a lot better now.

Rosette Flip-Flops

Remember my tank top makeover? Well, this time I used rosettes to embellish a pair of flip-flops. Quick, simple, and pretty!

Erinnert ihr euch an meinen Tank Top Makeover?  Also diesmal habe ich Flip-Flops mit Rosetten verziert. Schnell, einfach, und hübsch!

Start with a pair of flip-flops and an old t-shirt:

Cut 1 inch strips from the t-shirt - one for each flower.
Twist and roll the strips into flowers, sew the layers together, and...

Cut out felt circles and glue to the back of the rosettes (the glue is still wet on this picture).

I used a hot glue gun to attach the rosettes to the flip-flops.

Whimsical Flowers

I tried my hand at painting again. That's something I really would love to learn. As you can see, I am still very much a beginner, just trying out different techniques and paints.

Verspielte Blumen 12.5cm x 12.5cm

Japanese Sewing Books

I discovered these amazing Japanese sewing pattern books through a blog (Tea Rose Home) I follow. Luckily, the pattern books published by Nihon Vogue can be ordered online for a reasonable price from yesasia.com. The patterns and descriptions are in Japanese, but if you have some experience with sewing clothes, you should be able to follow the pictures. There is a preview for most books, so you know what you are ordering. I especially like the pochée designs. Her are some of my favorites:

I can't wait till my first pochée pattern book arrives!
