Getting ready to go East

I haven't had much time for sewing or crafting this week, since we are getting ready to head to Europe on Sunday. There is schoolwork to be finished, errands to be run, and preparations to be made... Anyway, I can't wait to see my family and friends in Switzerland! We are also flying to Prague for a few days. I have never been to the Czech Republic. I hear Prague is the Venice of the East - very bohemian and artsy. Not to mention the great architecture and music...
I had a few minutes to get started on the sew along I wrote about last week. This is what I have made so far for the bag. I used a Moda charm pack (Woodland Bloom).

Ich habe dies Woche nicht viel Zeit zum Nähen oder Basteln, da wir am Sonntag nach Europa fliegen. Ich muss noch Schularbeiten abgeben, Besorgungen machen und einige Vorbereitungen treffen bevors auf die Reise geht. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, meine Familie und Freunde in der Schweiz zu sehen! Wir werden auch für ein paar Tage nach Prag fliegen. Ich war noch nie in der Tschechischen Republik. Ich habe gehört, dass Prag das Venedig des Ostens genannt wird - sehr unkonventionell und künstlerisch. Nicht zu vergessen ist natürlich auch die großartige Architektur und Musik...
Ich hatte ein paar Minuten um mit dem Nähen für den sew along, von dem ich letzte Woche geschrieben habe, zu beginnen. Hier ist, was ich bisher für die Tasche genäht habe. Ich habe einen Moda Charm Pack (Woodland Bloom) benutzt.

Yellow Turquoise and Freshwater Pearls

I made these two simple necklaces and earrings from yellow turquoise beads (semi-precious stones), freshwater pearls and sterling silver findings. Nothing fancy, but I really like the way they turned out.

Ich habe diese zwei Halsketten und die Ohrringe aus gelbem Türkis (Halbedelstein), Frischwasserperlen und Sterling Silber hergestellt. Einfach, aber trotzdem schön.  

Another Pair of Flip-Flops

I couldn't resist embellishing another pair of flip-flops. This time I used an old Halloween costume of my daughter's to make the flowers. Since the fabric is much thinner, I couldn't just cut strips for the flowers. Instead I made a fabric tube like this:

Ich konnte nicht widerstehen, noch ein Paar Flip-Flops zu verschönern. Diesesmal nutzte ich ein altes Halloween-Kostüm von meiner Tochter, um die Blumen zu machen. Da der Stoff ziemlich dünn ist, konnte ich nicht einfach Streifen für die Blumen schneiden. Stattdessen habe ich einen Schlauch genäht:

My First Tea Cozy

I followed the directions on rustybobbin, measured my teapot, and made my own pattern. It worked out to quite well, I think. Have a look!

Tea Time

I LOVE tea. I drink it every day and take pleasure in discovering new aromas.
Yesterday, I went to a local British Tea Room for lunch with a friend. It was such a relaxing, wonderful experience. Dainty porcelain teaware, finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, great tea, lovely company, and classical background music. What else could one ask for?

I was inspired to create something tea related after the visit. A tea cozy, I decided would be a practical thing to make, especially since I don't own one. I went in search of instructions and inspiration on google and flickr. I was amazed at how many tea cozies were knitted or crocheted. I think I will sew one though.
